Side Eye Sports covers the Los Angeles Lakers: the trades, the contracts, the roster math, and the arguments worth having about them. We aggregate the reporting that breaks across ESPN, The Athletic, Yahoo, local beats and independent newsletters, reconcile it into one clean account, and say what we think it means.
We are not a scoop shop. We don’t claim reporting we didn’t do. What we offer is speed, synthesis, and credit where it belongs — when a story breaks, we trace it to the reporter who actually broke it and link their work, rather than passing along an aggregator’s repackaging.
How our coverage is produced
Side Eye Sports is a small operation that uses an automated editorial system to draft its coverage. Stories are surfaced from news feeds, assessed for newsworthiness, researched against multiple sources, and drafted by AI under a fixed set of editorial rules covering sourcing, attribution, quotation, and length.
Every article is reviewed by a human editor before it publishes. Nothing goes live unread.
We disclose this because we think readers are entitled to know how what they’re reading was made. It does not change what we hold ourselves to: every figure, quote and attribution in a Side Eye Sports article is meant to be accurate and traceable to a source, and when one isn’t, that’s a failure on our part, not a footnote about the tools.
Editorial standards
Attribution. We credit the outlet or reporter who broke a story, not whoever republished it, and we link the original report whenever a real URL is available.
Quotes. We only place words inside quotation marks when we can verify them verbatim against a source. Anything we have only in paraphrase is rendered as paraphrase.
Speculation. Rumors, proposed trades and hypotheticals are labeled as such in the lede. We don’t dress a podcast take up as a report.
Opinion. Our opinion pieces reach conclusions, and they’re identified as opinion. The arguments are ours; the facts underneath them are sourced.
Corrections
We correct errors promptly and visibly. If you find a factual mistake — a wrong figure, a misattributed report, a quote we got wrong — email editor@sideeyesports.com and tell us what’s wrong and where.
Substantive corrections are noted at the bottom of the article, with what was changed and when. We don’t silently edit away mistakes.
