Stephen Curry scored 31 points Friday and passed Dominique Wilkins for 18th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list. The Golden State Warriors erased an early 25-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-95 in an NBA Cup game in San Francisco. Curry took his career total to 26,674 points, passing Wilkins (26,668).
Curry shot 11-of-23 from the field, 8-of-14 from three and 1-of-1 at the line, with six assists and four rebounds. He scored 17 of his 31 after halftime. The Warriors trailed 38-15 at the end of the first quarter, and their 17-point win was the largest margin of victory in the shot clock era for a team that trailed by 20 or more points at the end of the first quarter.
Luka Dončić scored 37 for the Lakers. Curry is now ahead of Wilkins, Tim Duncan, Paul Pierce, John Havlicek and Kevin Garnett on the list. Oscar Robertson is 17th with 26,710 points, 36 more than Curry, and Hakeem Olajuwon is next at 26,946.
Curry entered Friday’s action averaging 28.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 47.7 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from three-point territory. Over the last two games, he’s scored 75 points and knocked down 14 three-pointers.
Games Played Set Curry’s Pace, Not His Scoring
Friday fit a pattern. Twenty-four of Curry’s 31 points came on threes, and he took one free throw against 23 field-goal attempts, so this was a jump-shooting night. It was also close to his season average, which makes it a continuation of his October scoring rather than a jump from it.
What has slowed his climb is time on the floor. In January 2026, NBA.com wrote that if he stays healthy, he could go as high as No. 12 by season’s end, leapfrogging Hall of Famers Tim Duncan, Dominique Wilkins, Oscar Robertson and Hakeem Olajuwon.
Instead he finished 2025-26 19th, at 26,528 points, still behind Wilkins. At his current scoring rate the record book has only one real requirement: that he stays on the court.
Oscar Robertson Is 36 Points Away
The Warriors host the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, Nov. 1, then play the Phoenix Suns at Chase Center on Monday, Nov. 2. Passing Robertson on Sunday would take a bigger night than Curry’s season average. At his October pace he would more likely do it across the two games.
