The Golden State Warriors have ruled out Draymond Green for the Sunday, Nov. 1 game against the LA Clippers at Chase Center. The team listed him with a bilateral low back injury, designated as injury management. Stephen Curry is also out.
The game is the first night of a back-to-back: Clippers on Sunday, Suns on Monday, and both games are at Chase Center. Curry is listed for right knee management. According to Ali Thanawalla of NBC Sports Bay Area, the Warriors are taking a cautious approach early this season by keeping the 38-year-old from playing in both games of a back-to-back. Curry missed two months at the end of the 2025-26 season with a right knee injury.
This will be the second game Green has missed in 2026-27. He also sat out the Oct. 24 loss to the Phoenix Suns with a back issue. In Golden State’s 112-95 NBA Cup win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Oct. 30, Green had 2 points, 4 rebounds, 9 assists, 3 steals and 1 block in 32 minutes.
The Warriors (3-3) will be short-handed beyond those two. Moses Moody and Jimmy Butler III are out with knee issues, and Kristaps Porziņģis is out with an illness. Gui Santos is day-to-day with a knee issue. The Clippers come in at 1-4 and are missing Brandon Ingram, Max Strus, Bradley Beal and Yanic Konan Niederhäuser.
Golden State Is Spending November Games to Protect Its Veterans
Curry is 38 and Green is 36. Six games into the season, the Warriors are already treating back-to-backs as something to manage around their two oldest core players rather than play through.
Sitting both of them on the same night, with Butler, Moody and Porziņģis also out, leaves little of the regular rotation. Most of Sunday’s frontcourt work will fall to Al Horford and the depth behind him.
Golden State is accepting a weaker roster against a depleted Clippers team so that Curry and Green are available for the Suns on Monday. The trade-off makes sense in a single week.
Over a full season, though, the team will give up a steady number of winnable games. That is the cost of keeping two veterans with recent injury histories healthy for the spring.
Monday’s Suns Game Will Show Whether the Rule Holds
The second game of the back-to-back is against Phoenix on Monday, Nov. 2. NBC Sports Bay Area reported that Curry and Green are likely available for that game, though the team has not yet posted an injury report for it.
