Yaxel Lendeborg scored a career-high 37 points on Sunday, Nov. 1. That is the most by a Golden State Warriors rookie since Stephen Curry scored 42 at Portland on April 14, 2010. The Warriors beat the Los Angeles Clippers 124-112 at Chase Center without Curry or Draymond Green, who were both held out of the first game of a home back-to-back.
Lendeborg shot 13-of-19 from the field and 6-of-11 from three. He added six assists, four rebounds and two turnovers. His previous career high was 31 points in a 134-114 win at Denver on Oct. 27.
Lendeborg, the No. 11 pick in the 2026 draft, now has two 30-point games in his first seven, and this was his fourth game this season with at least 20 points. Two days before, on Oct. 30, he scored six points and fouled out of a 112-95 win over the Lakers in which Golden State erased a 25-point deficit.
Golden State has won four straight and is 4-3. The Clippers have lost five in a row.
The Scoring Doesn’t Depend on Curry Sitting
The usual caution applies: Curry and Green were out, and the opponent was on a five-game losing streak. But the pattern so far is bigger than one game with extra shots available. His 31 at Denver came in a game Curry played, and he got Sunday’s 37 on only 19 shots.
The breakdown supports that. The six threes made up 18 of his points, seven two-pointers added 14 and free throws added five, so 32 of the 37 came from the field. That is efficient shot-making rather than a pile of free throws.
The six-point game against the Lakers shows the swings that still come with a rookie. The best read is that his scoring seven games in looks real, but that it has not yet held up night after night.
Curry and Green Are Expected Back Against the Suns
Golden State hosts the Phoenix Suns at Chase Center on Monday, Nov. 2, and both Curry and Green are expected back. That game will show how much of Lendeborg’s offense holds up with Curry taking the lead role again.
